OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Joel Embiid had 27 points and nine rebounds and the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-93 on Saturday night to win even with Brooklyn to the Eastern Conference lead.
On Friday-evening, Embiid went off the floor only 5 for 16 in a loss in New Orleans, scoring 14 runs. He was 10 to 17 in three-quarters of the work against the Thunder.
Furkan Korkmaz added a season-high 20 points for the 76ers.
Darius Bazley had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Tony Bradley added 16 points and 14 rebounds for Oklahoma City. The Thunder has lost six straights.
Two Thunder starters returned from absence. Bazley had missed 15 games with a shoulder injury, and security guard Lu Dort missed seven games in a concussion. Dort scored 15 points.
The 76ers were leading 66-53 at halftime. Embiid made only one of his first four shots, but he was 6-for-6 the rest of the first half and finished with 21 points. The 76ers led the way, even though they only made 5 of the 21 three-pointers before half time. The 76ers led the way to the fourth quarter with 90-76.
76ers: Guard George Hill, who traded the Thunder to the 76ers last month as part of a three-team deal, remained out with a right thumb injury he sustained early in the season while playing for Oklahoma City. … Only had 10 sales and forced 23.
